Spuds Rally Falls Short Versus Sartell-St. Stephen

The Spuds opened up their home schedule on Monday night vs the Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres with a 50 – 41 loss to fall to 1-3 on the season. The Spuds were paced by sophomore Annie Horan with 11pts and 5 steals. The Sabres were led by Avery Templin with 18pts. After falling behind by 17 midway through the second half the Spuds were able to stage a rally and cut the Sabres lead to single digits with 2 minutes to play. Coach TD was pleased with the effort overall on the night, “we’re getting closer to putting together a full game, tonight I felt like we played well for 20 plus minutes but that’s not going to cut it versus good teams and we saw that again tonight.” The Spuds got some great contributions from Tori Hagen and Lauren Peterson off the bench, they combined for 12pts and provided some great energy and confidence. The Spuds continue with their home stand Friday night versus section 8 opponent Buffalo. Game times are set for 4:30pm (B & JV), and 6:00pm Varsity.
