Spuds Drop Opener to Defending State Champions

The Moorhead Girls Basketball team opened the 24-25 season on the road vs defending 4A state champions Minnetonka. After a slow start from both teams the Skippers opened up a large first half lead and proved they are one of the top teams in the state again this year. The Spuds were led by Annie Horan offensively as she knocked down four 3’s on the night, however no other Spud was able to reach double figures and the Spuds dropped the opener 85-31. Coach TD commented, “we knew it was going to be a tough game to open with, however I think we will look back and appreciate the level of competition as we gain our traction moving through the season.”  It’s a busy week for the Spuds, who will head down to play Brainerd Thursday with JV at 4:45 pm and Varsity set for 6:15 pm. The Spuds finish the week with an out of state opponent from Jamestown, ND, gametime vs Jamestown is set for 7:00 pm.
