The Moorhead Girls Basketball team opened their first home game on Tuesday night against Fergus Falls with a 69 – 49 loss. The loss drops the Spuds to 0-2 on the year with two more games to finish the week, at Brainerd, and home Friday vs. Jamestown. The Spuds started the game strong and found themselves within striking distance 11 – 14 at the 10-minute mark, before a 10-0 run from the Otters created some separation before the end of the half. Freshman’s Nadia Adedokun and Kyra Swanson, as well as sophomore Nadia Linn, made their home varsity debut and combined for 14 pts. Senior Hailey Dahl added 10 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. Coach TD says, “we are still trying to figure some things out, I thought we had some brief moments of success, but just not consistently enough to stay in the game.” It’s a busy week for the Spuds, who will head down to play Brainerd Thursday with JV at 4:45 pm and Varsity set for 6:15 pm. The Spuds finish the week with an out of state opponent from Jamestown, ND, gametime vs Jamestown is set for 7:00 pm.
