Spuds Fall to Elks on the Road
In another tough road matchup for the Spuds girls basketball team the Elk River Elks behind consistent pressure and timely shooting beat the Spuds 63 – 21 on Saturday afternoon.
The Spuds played inspired basketball for the first ten minutes of the game and held a 13 to 12 lead at the 9 minute mark in the first half. Unfortunately, the Spuds shooting went cold for the rest of the game and only scored 8 points over the final 26 minutes of the game. “I thought we executed our game plan really well through the first ten minutes, unfortunately, Elk River started to turn us over and it snowballed. But our energy and effort were there, we just couldn’t keep up” Dryburgh said. The Elks finished the game shooting 45% for the game and turned the Spuds over 27 times. Senior Anna Nelson scored a game high 7pts for the Spuds who return home Monday night for the home opener vs. Sartell-St. Stephen. Game time is set for 6:30pm.
